Abstract

This paper underscores the significance of translation as an ethical endeavor to foster human connections. By focusing on the concept of social welfare, it highlights the quality of services provided by developed nations' governments to their citizens. Concepts such as intimacy, expectations, sacrifice, conflicting agendas, responsibility, and various social welfare issues can contribute to societal unrest. Indeed, continuous intercultural dialogue cannot exist without the mechanisms of human relationships, exemplified by the individual-society connection.

Many social workers have a keen interest in various aspects of social welfare, including social justice, globalization, and political integration. Therefore, the significance of this paper lies in drawing the attention of Arab nations to the works of Bill Jordan, a reader in social studies at the University of Exeter and a professor of social policy at the University of Huddersfield. Jordan has written extensively on politics and social systems, including his recent work on "A Theory of Poverty and Social Exclusion" (1996).

This paper presents an Arabic translation of the introduction to Jordan's seminal book, "The New Politics of Welfare: Social Justice in a Global Context" (1998). This book, a 260-page volume in the SAGE Politics series, offers a critical and timely introduction to the current debates and politics surrounding welfare reform in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The primary objective of translating the introductory chapter, "Social Justice in a Global Context," is to inspire political activism that can elevate the efforts of Arab nations in their pursuit of widespread social justice.
