About journal

Founded in 2022, the Arabic Journal for Translation Studies (AJTS) is a double-blind peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by Democratic Arabic Center for Strategic, Political and Economic Studies

| Focus and Scope
The journal publishes original, peer-reviewed research in Translation and Interpreting Studies, Linguistics, and Terminology Studies, as well as related topics in language, culture, and knowledge transfer. The journal also welcomes submissions from the Humanities and Social Sciences, and provides a platform for diverse scholarly contributions across disciplines.

| Publication Frequency
Arabic Journal for Translation Studies publishes its articles quarterly, after they have gone through the various stages of peer review, revision, acceptance, proofreading, and editing, with the aim of producing high-quality scholarly publications. The journal archives its articles in four issues: (January–March), (April–June), (July–September), and (October–December).
It is worth noting that the journal receives submissions throughout the year, and any paper or study that is accepted after peer review entitles its author to obtain a certificate of promise of publication until the issue containing the article is released.
The journal also publishes articles immediately upon acceptance, after they successfully pass both the plagiarism check and the peer-review stages. They are then posted on the “Early View” page, assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), and become available for reading and citation. Once the issue is published, the article is added to the corresponding issue page within the journal’s regular archive.

| Types of Contributions
Authors should review the journal’s accepted submission types before preparing a manuscript. AJTS publishes the following contribution types:
- Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Book Reviews
- Translated Texts (translations of scientific/scholarly or knowledge-based texts)

| Submissions
Authors may submit manuscripts either through the journal’s online submission system (OJS) or by email. Authors are free to choose the method they prefer. For email submissions, manuscripts should be sent as a Word file to: j.translation@democraticac.de

| Open Access
Arabic Journal for Translation Studies (AJTS) is an open access journal. All content is freely available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription or registration required.
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence. This licence permits anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to the full texts, and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author(s) and the original source.
There are no embargo periods. Readers are encouraged to share and use the published content in accordance with the licence terms.

| Article Processing Charges (APC)
No fees are charged at the time of manuscript submission. The Article Processing Charge (APC) is due only after the article is accepted for publication and amounts to €150. There are no additional fees related to page count or colour figures.

| Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest exists when financial, professional, or personal relationships could reasonably be perceived to influence (or appear to influence) an individual’s judgment, decision-making, or interpretation of a manuscript.

  • Editors and Editorial Board Members: Editors and editorial board members will not use unpublished information disclosed in a submitted manuscript for their own research purposes without the authors’ explicit written consent. Any privileged information or ideas obtained through handling a manuscript will be treated as confidential and will not be used for personal advantage. Editors will recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have a conflict of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the submission. In such cases, another qualified editor will be assigned.

  • Reviewers: Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest before accepting a review invitation. If a conflict exists, reviewers should decline the invitation or withdraw from the review process.

  • Authors: Authors should disclose, at the earliest stage possible (typically at submission and within the manuscript), any conflicts of interest that could be construed to influence the results or their interpretation. Conflicts may be financial (e.g., honoraria, grants, employment, consultancies, stock ownership or other equity interests, paid expert testimony, or patent/licensing arrangements) or non-financial (e.g., personal or professional relationships, affiliations, or strong intellectual beliefs relevant to the work). All sources of financial support must be declared, including grant numbers or other relevant reference details where applicable.

| Digital Archiving and Preservation
The journal adopts the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) as a long-term digital preservation and archiving solution integrated with the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform through which the journal is managed online, in order to ensure the long-term preservation and continued availability of its content. PKP PN is a long-term digital preservation service that operates within a distributed preservation infrastructure (such as LOCKSS), supporting continuity of access to content when needed. The journal also provides structured access to its descriptive metadata via the OAI-PMH protocol, ensuring interoperability with indexing and harvesting standards.

In addition, the journal assigns persistent Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to all published articles through an agreement with Crossref, ensuring stable citation, traceability, and reliable referencing.

| Repository (Self-Archiving)
Upon acceptance, the author(s) retain copyright (intellectual property rights) and grant the journal a non-exclusive licence to publish the work (right of first publication). All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) licence. Accordingly, the journal allows authors to deposit and share versions of their work in institutional or subject repositories, or on academic platforms of their choice, without embargo, provided that:
1. Full and accurate citation to the journal as the original place of publication is included.
2. A link to the article on the journal’s website and/or the DOI (when available) is provided.
3. The terms of the CC BY-NC 4.0 licence are respected.

| Plagiarism Screening
All submissions are screened for plagiarism using a plagiarism-detection service (Quetext). Manuscripts with unacceptable similarity are rejected or returned for correction, depending on the case.

The journal does not currently host adverts on the website.
