2- What is the Arab Impact Factor?
The Impact Factor (IF) is a measure of the importance of peer-reviewed scientific journals within their research field. It reflects the extent to which new research refers to and cites the research previously published in that journal. A journal with a high Impact Factor is considered important and more frequently cited than those with a lower Impact Factor.
The Impact Factor remains the most renowned indexing measure, representing the average number of citations to recent articles published in the journal over the past two years. This measure is widely accepted as an important criterion in choosing a publication venue.
Currently, some institutions calculate Impact Factors annually for the peer-reviewed journals registered with them and publish these in what are known as Journal Citation Reports, ranking journals according to their Impact Factors. Unfortunately, there is no global interest in calculating Impact Factors for journals published in Arabic. This has led to the creation of the "Arab Impact Factor," which is specifically for journals published in Arabic. The Arab Impact Factor provides quantitative and qualitative assessments to rank and classify Arabic-language journals. This factor is used for academic evaluation and to determine the quality and academic excellence of these journals. The evaluation involves analyzing multiple factors, such as the number of citations to the research published in these journals by other journals, the originality and scientific quality of the published research, the technical quality of the editorial board, the type of editing, the regularity of journal publication, the peer-review system, and adherence to research and publication ethics.
