تقترح هذه الورقة بروفايلا جدليا يتألف من سبعة أسئلة مرتبطة بخطاطة الحجاج العملي. يدمج هذا النموذج التداول حول الوسائل والأهداف ضمن إجراء تكراري واحد، كما يدمج الحجاج القائم على الأهداف والظروف بالحجاج البرغماتي القائم على العواقب السلبية. تهدف عملية التساؤل النقدي إلى اختبار معقولية مسار أو أكثر من المسارات المقترحة للفعل، بما يسهم في تعزيز عقلانية صناعة القرار ضمن شروط نقص المعرفة (اللايقين والمخاطرة).
