This article aims to understand the foreign anthropological attempts that studied Islam in Morocco, As an essential component of the Moroccan identity, and has a vision of the world. This is done by standing at the beginnings of this modern scientific interest, which coincided with the period of preparation for the colonial stage, and then focusing on the post-colonial experience, with one of the symbols of contemporary anthropological thought, Ernest Gellner, who re-read Moroccan Islam in light of the renewal of scientific and cognitive references. known in this field after World War II.
