Artificial Intelligence and Translation: Realities, Myths, and Future Perspectives

In the current context, we believe that technological development has advanced significantly in recent years. In this work, we particularly highlight the progress of artificial intelligence in the field of translation. Our approach focuses on delving into the theoretical and analytical framework to reach a clearer understanding of the nature of AI's role in translation. It is important to emphasize that, nowadays, the development of artificial intelligence, the digitization of societies, and technological improvements are transforming every aspect of our lives, and translation is no exception. The integration of neural machine translation and the quality that this system offers have significantly improved over time. Therefore, in this study, we analyze whether these new technological systems match or surpass human translation, or whether they inevitably require human intervention to refine the translated text. Furthermore, we provide the reader with a brief overview of the various systems and tools that use artificial intelligence in the translation process, with the aim of evaluating these technologies. In this way, we seek to offer interested parties information on the tools that provide the highest level of accuracy when translating.
