Long-term Digital Preservation and Archiving (PKP PN)
Overview
The Arabic Journal for Translation Studies (AJTS) adopts the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) as a long-term digital preservation and archiving solution, integrated with the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform through which the journal is managed online. This approach helps ensure the long-term preservation and continued availability of the journal’s content.
What is PKP PN?
PKP PN is a long-term digital preservation service operating within a distributed preservation infrastructure (e.g., LOCKSS-based approaches), supporting continuity of access to content when needed and reducing the risk of loss or unavailability due to technical issues.
Key Benefits
-
Long-term preservation of published issues, articles, and digital files.
-
Improved continuity of access over time.
-
Increased reliability aligned with established scholarly preservation practices.
-
Seamless integration with the journal’s OJS workflow.
Preservation Scope
Depending on OJS/PKP PN configuration, preservation may include published content, associated files, and related metadata.
Note
Update frequency and the appearance of content within preservation systems may depend on technical conditions, service policies, and synchronization cycles.
