The Forest Area between Natural and Human Constraints: A Case Study of Tamtgarf Ait Ismail Forest in the Tagleft Commune

This study highlights the environmental degradation affecting the forested area of Tamtgarf Aït Ismail (Tagleft commune, Azilal Province, Morocco) by analyzing natural and human factors. It aims to identify dominant plant formations, causes of forest shrinkage, and assess the role of authorities in forest protection and management. The research used observation, interviews, surveys, and GIS to produce maps showing temporal forest cover changes, alongside SPSS for processing and analyzing questionnaire data. Findings show that excessive human exploitation and lack of environmental awareness are key drivers of degradation, along with limited institutional intervention. Climatic factors like drought and evaporation, and natural barriers such as rugged terrain, increase vegetation fragility, hinder regeneration, and reduce resilience.
