This article entails the outcomes of a study which aims at understanding the impact the urban lifestyle has on bodies. This is done through shedding light on ordinary walking experiences in urban public spaces. Pedestrians were given the opportunity to describe the qualitative relationship they set up with urban spaces, and to express the impressions left on them by walking through those spaces. To achieve this aim, it was crucial first to define the concept of the atmosphere in relation to other concepts from the same lexical repertoire such as the environment, the surrounding, and the climate; second, stereotyping urban lifestyle according to the physical conditions of the pedestrians.
